Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

Mission: Prepare catechumens for initiation into the Catholic Church by helping them in understanding the faith, in receiving the sacraments, in experiencing Christ through the liturgy and recognizing Him in their everyday lives.

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is for anyone who is interested in becoming a Catholic. This would include those who have never been baptized or anyone who has been baptized in another faith.

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults builds up the faith life of the parish by attracting interested adults who want to learn more about the Catholic Faith. If you would like to receive the sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation, Holy Communion, and/or Confirmation or if you just want to be renewed in your faith the R.C.I.A. instruction provides the opportunity to do so through a friendly and nurturing seminar environment with lectures, video presentations and discussion groups.

The R.C.I.A has a wonderful group of parishioners who provide hospitality and weekly sharing of the Sunday scripture readings. The St. Michael staff presents the basic beliefs of the Catholic Church. The group is taken through a variety of prayer experiences that focus on the various points of growth in the R.C.I.A journey. Throughout the entire process, there is never any pressure to join the Church.

I f you have a spouse, relative, friend,or neighbor who you think would be interested in the R.C.I.A. program, or if you would like to renew and deepen your faith, please contact: Michael Ress, Director of Religious Education, at the Rectory office at 330-492-3119, ext 17.

Schedule - The RCIA meets on Thursday evenings from October to April, 7:00pm to 8:30pm in the Fannon Center.  It is at the Easter Vigil in Spring that those who have decided to become Catholic will celebrate their entry into the Faith.  Next session to be announced will start in the Fall of 2009.  Please contact Michael Ress for additional information.
