History of Club
St. Michael's Garden Club was organized on October 6, 1955 with 25 charter members. Currently there are 42 active members and 3 associates. The 50th Anniversary celebration, which honored all the past presidents, was held in October 2005 at Glenmoor Country Club.
Besides the monthly informative and interesting meetings, field trips, and special events, the Club was for many years the mentor for St. Michael’s Junior Garden Club. Members have done therapy projects at Manor Care Nursing Home and other institutions. Members work on the beautification of St. Michael’s grounds & coordinate a community outreach project by providing landscaping for a Habitat for Humanity home each year. One of the club’s greatest challenges, along with the bridge groups at St. Michael’s, was to commission a sculpture of St. Francis which now draws young and old to the labyrinth area outdoors to view the saint who loved all of creation.
