MOMS (Ministry Of Mothers Sharing)

St. Michael MOMS Group
Mission and Activities

MOMS is a group of women sharing the joys, challenges and laughter of raising children today.  We are an informal group, open to everyone, gathering twice a month at the church to talk and form friendships.  Our Friday morning meetings run the gamut, from guest speakers offering parenting tips to conversation about how to make your sometimes hectic life easier.  All with moms just like you.

Spiritual

We begin each meeting with a prayer and intentions.  We also have a separate, small faith group of moms available to further spiritual development.  Occasionally, we host a speaker on issues of faith and a question and answer session with a priest.

Babysitting

We offer babysitting for a small fee from an experienced, caring sitter to allow you a chance to chat without chasing kids.  However, you are welcome to also bring your little ones, particularly infants, into the meeting.  Babysitting is located in a nearby room, within earshot of the MOMS meeting.

Social

Once a month, we break out of the church and meet in the evening for a "Moms' Night Out".  We gather at a local restaurant to enjoy food and conversation.  We also offer a night out with the spouses.  A weekend of shopping away is a highlight of our social agenda.

Culture

Moms experience culture with group trips to the theatre, concerts, museums, etc.

Kids

Informal playgroups happen as women and children get to know each other.  We also have regular park play dates during the summer, and planned outings to the Akron Zoo and other fun, kid-friendly places.

Service

We believe in reaching out to help each other - whether it is visiting someone recovering from surgery or making meals for a mom who just had a baby.  We also have a few community outreach projects, such as Christmas shopping for a needy St. Michael's family and donation deliveries to local charities.

Cooking Club

An outgrowth of MOMS Group, Cooking Club offers you a chance to lessen the burden of family meals.  Cooking in bulk and sharing with other families gives you a freezer full of home-cooked meals for a fraction of the effort.
