Prayer Shawl Ministry
About St Michael Prayer Shawl Ministry
Prayer shawls are tangible symbols of love. They are warm hugs of empathy and support; a private place of escape in which to rest, relax, and renew; something to hold on to whan all else seems to be slipping away. Wrapping others in shawls made with prayer and loving thoughts is the gift. Prayer begins in the heart and the creation of a prayer shawl is a spiritual journey for the shawl maker.
The St. Michael’s Prayer Shawl Ministry was initiated in December 2011 by a small group of women who enjoyed knitting but were looking for a purpose. The ministry’s first meeting was held on February 15, 2012.
Members of the ministry knit or crochet shawls, lap robes, and baby blankets. As one creates an item prayers are said to offer comfort, peace, and hope to those who are ill, as well as love and blessings to those who are experiencing life changing events. All items are blessed by St. Michael’s Priests or Deacons and NEVER bought or sold.
