Holy Week Music Day 4: Psalm 22

Holy Week Music Day 4: Psalm 22 (Francis Patrick O'Brien)

With Ken Boyce (Music Director, St. Joan of Arc) and Libby Saxton (Director of Music and Liturgy, St. Michael)

Reflection by Libby Saxton: This version of the psalm that we hear and proclaim on Palm Sunday is a haunting melody in its simplicity. The abandonment that Jesus felt, and we have all felt at one point in our lives, is real. It is okay to acknowledge that we are broken; we are beaten. It is okay to weep, and yet, as Christians, we wipe our faces, we get back up, and we carry on. Just as in the last verse of this psalm, we "give glory to him."
