April 10th, 2020 - Good Friday Morning Prayer

The Paschal Triduum continues online today with our Good Friday liturgy at 3pm. Easter: the Easter Vigil is tomorrow at 8:30pm, and Easter Sunday throughout the morning.

As we continue this sacred Triddum, we invite you to join us for Sung Morning Prayer. The words for this morning’s songs can be found below (most are easily repeated without looking at the words):

Leader: O God +, come to my assistance.
All: Lord, make haste to help me.
Leader: Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
All: As it was in the beginning, is now and will be forever. Amen.

OPENING SONG: O Lord, Your Cross (Crucem Tuam)

All: O Lord, your cross, we adore and glorify,
For your holy resurrection, we praise you Lord of life.
We praise you, and we glorify you.
For your holy resurrection, we praise you Lord of life.

Psalm 27: The Lord is my light, my light and salvation.
In God I trust; In God I trust.
Psalm 51: I will arise and go to my God.

Praised be the God of Israel, the Lord.
God comes to bring redemption to the people;
And raises up his saving power for us
Within the household of God’s servant, David.
The prophets spoke God’s promise age on age;
Salvation from our foes and all who hate us.
God keeps his pledge of mercy to our people,
Remembering the covenant forever.

The oath by which God promised Abraham
That we might have protection from our foes,
So fearlessly to serve our God in justice,
In holiness before God all our lives.

The prophet of the most high God are you,
You go before the Lord, prepare the way.
To give God’s people knowledge of salvation,
Redemption through forgiveness of their sins.

Forgiveness by the mercy of our God,
By which God comes to us as rising dawn.
To shine on those in darkness, in death’s shadow
To guide our feet upon the way of peace.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son,
and the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning is now
And will be forever. Amen.
