Music ministry is alive and well and growing by leaps and bounds at St. Michaels! We have many opportunities for anyone interested in joining this ministry as together we make a "joyful noise to the Lord!"

Dr. J. Michael McMahan, President of the National Association of Pastoral Musicians, once wrote, “The song of liturgy is a rehearsal if you will, for the song of life. At the liturgy we hear God’s song: God’s song forms us into a people.” Music Ministry is a way to serve God and God’s children (the parish). Taking part in Music Ministry is a wonderful opportunity to live our Parish vision resulting in the spiritual growth and unity of our Parish! There are several opportunities to offer your time and talent with our Parish:
The Archangel Ensemble Choir

We enhance the liturgies and prayer life through music! We sing together, laugh together, and pray together. New members always welcome, no auditions or previous experience necessary- just a love of singing! All ages and abilities are welcome!
Meeting Schedule:
Sunday 11:00am Masses and special occasions;
Rehearsals are Thursdays, 7:00pm-8:00pm in the church;
September-May

JuBELLation Handbell Choir

We enhance the liturgy with beautiful bell music. We welcome musically oriented volunteers with good coordination, a sense of rhythm, and commitment to the ensemble. No previous experience necessary, just a desire to learn! High school age or older.
Meeting Schedule:
4th Sunday of the month, 8:30 Masses and special occasions
Rehearsals are Tuesdays, 6:00pm-7:00pm in the church

SMS Youth Choir

We add joyful, spirited, and youthful voices to our Masses! Students gain choral instruction, musical skills, and cantor experience. Youth instrumentalists are also welcome! Grades 4th-8th.
Meeting Schedule:
1st Sunday of the month, 11:00am Mass, weekly school Masses,
and special occasions including: Easter, Christmas, and Lessons & Carols.
Rehearsals are Tuesdays, 2:40pm-3:40pm in the church
September-May
Resurrection Choir

We bring comfort to those mourning by providing well supported music at funerals; no auditions or previous experience necessary.
Meeting Schedule:
Year-round
No set rehearsals; we meet 20-30 minutes prior to each funeral
Attendance at each funeral mass is not a requirement.
Cantors

We serve as leaders of congregational song at Mass. Cantors are responsible for preparing the music on their own and are strongly encouraged to attend choir rehearsal the week prior to their scheduled weekend Mass. Scheduled Mass times are available through our current Ministry Scheduler program. Experience in choral singing or solo singing required. High school age or older.
Meeting Schedule:
Scheduled private practice with music director as needed.
Thursday, 7:00pm Archangel Ensemble rehearsal
Holy Days, Weddings, and Funerals as scheduled
Musicians

We enhance the liturgies and prayer life through music! Members gain experience in ensemble playing. No try-outs necessary, but experience is required, and a love of music! All ages and abilities are welcome. Musicians are responsible for preparing the music on their own and attending weekly rehearsals.

Year-round at all four masses, as scheduled

Rehearsals are Thursdays, 6:00pm-7:00pm in the church
