MUSICAL MEDITATION

Jesus, Meek and Humble

"Jesus, Meek and Humble" is a beautiful meditative song on the person of Jesus, written by Canton's own Ben Walther in collaboration with Sarah Hart. It is recorded here by our Archangel Choir, who met on Zoom this year, learning new songs, honing vocal techniques and praising God through the midst of this storm.

They recorded this song from the safety and comfort of their homes through their phones, tablets, or computers and then Libby Saxton compiled and mixed their voices to create this virtual choir. The accompaniment was created by Jeff Fricker.

Parish and Diocesan News and Reminders:
Serving, Giving, Growing

Bishop's Appeal and Bishop Bonnar's First Pastoral Letter

Two-thirds of this appeal goes to the work of Catholic Charities, and the remainder supports diocesan ministries that our parish relies on. With the pandemic these ministries have become even more critical, and especially the needs of Catholic Charities, which is serving more and more people.

Considering this great need, the diocese has set an ambitious goal of $4 million, and our parish goal is $195,800. Our parish has been a leader in this campaign in the past, and we are asked to lead again this year. As of April 29th, St. Michael's parishioners have committed almost $130,000, which is 66% of our parish goal. We are now second in the diocese in total dollars committed. And we are third in number of participating households, with 469. Commitment envelopes are available in the gathering space, and you can donate online below.
Thank you for supporting Catholic Charities and our Diocese.

DONATE TO BISHOP'S APPEAL

Bishop David Bonnar has also released his first pastoral letter,Testify to the Light.  In it, Bishop Bonnar offers encouragement to the diocesan Church during this pandemic, invites us to make prayer a priority, and suggests an exciting path forward for our diocesan Church.

Church Statements on Vaccines

Father Benson has received his vaccination doses, and (along with Pope Francis and the U.S. and Ohio Bishops) is encouraging parishioners to as well, when it becomes available to you. U.S. Bishops write that receiving vaccines “ought to be understood as an act of charity toward the other members of our community.”

Because of the ways in which the vaccines were developed, and with the aim of forming our consciences and culture to promote respect for human life, the bishops ask us to receive the Moderna or Pfizer vaccines if we are given the opportunity to choose a vaccine. But recognizing that often individuals do not have a choice of which vaccine to receive, Bishop Kevin Rhoades, chairman of the USCCB Committee on Doctrine, notes that, "the Vatican has made it clear that all the COVID vaccines recognized as clinically safe and effective can be used in good conscience."

Thank you for being vaccinated, as a way of protecting yourself and your family, and also the most vulnerable during this time of worldwide suffering.
